I grew up in the North East of England near the North Sea coast and then relocated to Devon and latterly Somerset, where I lived and worked for many years. Nature, the countryside and the sea have always had a huge influence and been a large part of my life.
After working as an Art Teacher in secondary education for many years, I made the move to develop my own art practice in 2022. Working from my garden Studio, my painting practice is always developing.
Now back in the North East, I am lucky enough to again live very close to the sea. This is a constant source of deep and emotional inspiration. Also, as an avid gardener, I observe nature close up on a daily basis. Nature will always feature in my work, inspire and be my constant. My paintings can be either full of energy and drama with visible brushstrokes, or portray a calm and more ethereal atmosphere, depending on the mood, weather and the seasons.
